Messages from President, Prime Minister and Services Chief
President Asif Ali Zardari’s/Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef and Services chief said in his message to mark Youm-e-Takbeer, exactly 28 years ago on this day, May 28, proved to be the day of a great journey when Pakistan left a positive and aggressive message for rest of the world regarding zero tolerance on its defense.
“The day that announced as the guarantor of secure defence of our sovereignty and freedom. On this day, in 1998 Pakistan carried out successful atomic tests in the mountains of Chagai and attained strategic sovereignty and deterrence. Pakistan didn’t embark upon this path out of the blue. This was the consequences of Indian first nuclear test which he has done in 1974. India went on to become the first country in South Asia to pursue the nuclear path, conducting its first nuclear test at Pokhran in Rajasthan, near the Pakistani border, in 1974. Then Pakistan under the leadership of then Prime Minister Mr. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, started its nuclear program, it was in retaliation of Indian nuclear blackmailing.
“Pakistan had stood firm in the face of all hardships to protect its security and sovereignty. And now , once again we are paying our tribute to our scientists, engineers, brave armed forces and the architects of national institutions, who had done hard work, shown valuable skills and their sense of patriotism has led Pakistan to become the world’s seventh nuclear power.
Indian Nuclear test were posing the serious threat to the survival and security of Pakistan therefore soon after Indian tests, political and military leadership of Pakistan had taken the right decision and gave true meaning to the aspirations of the nation as well as our national interest. Despite huge external pressure, threats of economic sanctions and many lucrative offers of temptation, Pakistan refused all these pressure and offers and conducted nuclear tests on May 28.
This day revalidates effective deterrence doctrine of Pakistan, which is now indispensable to maintain regional peace, and balance of power and stability. The wars of present age, and future, are likely to consist of multi-domain operations, where, alongside nuclear deterrence, artificial intelligence, drones, modern technologies and cyber warfare, are reckoned to play a decisive role.
“Pakistan’s armed forces are Al Hamd-o-Lillah fully equipped with such proficiency and professionalism related to all fields of battle and they have exhibited their skills and capabilities during the Marka-e-Haq last year. Pakistan harbors no aggressive designs against anyone.
Although Pakistan is a responsible and peace-loving country and respects international norms and laws. However, it reserves the right of self-defence under Article 50 of UN charter. Pakistan has exercised this right last year and gave a crushing blow to the Indian aggression during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
“Pakistan’s victory in Marka-e-Haq was the result of national unity, courage and professional excellence of our armed forces. Youm-e-Takbeer is also a day to renew our pledge that we were and we are prepared to go to any extent for the defence of our homeland.
